Cookie Policy

Cookies and similar technologies
Besides HTTP cookies, sites may use other storage in your browser (for example local storage). This policy describes what we use today on skichina.com (the public Ski China site).
What we use on our domain
We do not currently use first-party HTTP cookies for analytics, advertising, or login on this site. Your cookie preference choices from the banner are saved in browser localStorage under the key skichina.cookieConsent — that is not a cookie, but we disclose it here because it stores your consent settings.
Like many Next.js sites, the framework or hosting layer may set small technical cookies where needed for security or delivery; we do not use them to profile you for marketing.
Consent categories in the banner
The banner only lists category names and switches; this section explains what each one means for skichina.com.
The banner lets you choose Essential (always on), and optional Analytics, Functional, and Marketing.
- Essential — Core operation of the site and remembering your choices (including the consent record in local storage).
- Analytics — We do not currently load Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar analytics scripts on this site. If we add them later, we will only activate them in line with your choice where technically possible.
- Functional — Reserved for optional features (for example remembering UI preferences). No extra functional trackers are required for normal browsing today.
- Marketing — We do not currently load advertising or remarketing tags based on these preferences. This category is reserved for possible future use and will respect your choice.
Third-party services and their cookies
Some pages embed maps or map scripts. Those providers operate on their own domains and may set cookies or use similar technologies under their policies:
- Mapbox — Used for interactive maps (for example on story pages). Loading Mapbox resources may involve Mapbox setting or reading data on mapbox.com / api.mapbox.com as described in Mapbox privacy and cookie documentation.
- Google Maps — Used for location maps on some destination pages. Google's scripts may set cookies on Google domains; see Google's policies for details.
Images and content from Sanity CDN (cdn.sanity.io) are typically delivered without advertising cookies for normal image requests.
